Linebaugh Library History
In the mid-1940s, Henry Linebaugh donated $5,000 for a public library to be named after his mother, Mattie Linebaugh. 1948 marked the library’s opening year in the Hale House. The library quickly outgrew its space and moved to the old Elk’s Lodge in 1953. Within a few years, the Library needed even larger accommodations and moved to 110 West College Street in 1962.
